Wedding Fayre

Billy emerged from the fruitful training grounds of the northern club circuit to become one of Britain’s most talented and best loved comedians.

If proof were needed of his talent then the 1994 British comedy awards provided it. Billy scooped the award for Best Live Theatre Variety Entertainer against very high profile opposition.

He is no stranger to awards. In his formative years he was voted Club Mirror’s Solo Comedian of the Year by his fellow professionals, and followed that with Best Television Comedy Newcomer at the London Palladium.

He came to national prominence as a finalist in Central TV’s ‘New Faces’. His impact was immediate and he was quickly snapped up for stage and TV appearances, culminating with his first series for BBC Television – You Gotta Be Joking.

In 1993, he was honoured to be chosen to host The Children’s Royal Variety Performance screened by the BBC. A measure of his success is the fact that he has performed in five Children’s Royal Variety shows and three Royal Variety shows.
