Extra Steps Introduced by Keepmoat Stadium After Consultation With South Yorkshire Police and Trading Standards
- DEDICATED STEWARDS TO PATROL CONCOURSE AREAS AND QUEUES
- ‘FOOD ONLY’ AND ‘ALCOHOL AND FOOD KIOSKS’ TO OPERATE
- CHALLENGE-21 INITIATIVE FULLY ADOPTED
Alcohol will once again be available in public areas at the Keepmoat Stadium during tonight’s highly anticipated friendly match between Doncaster Rovers and Premier League champions Manchester United.
The Stadium Management Company took the decision to temporarily suspend the sale of alcohol at kiosks throughout the venue following the identification of a number of issues surrounding licensing requirements.
Since then the Keepmoat Stadium has been working in conjunction with local police to ensure extra measures are in place to address these requirements embracing the national Challenge 21 initiative.
Among the measures introduced will be a new queuing system in operation at kiosks around the Stadium, with customers having the choice of ‘Food Only Kiosks’ or ‘Kiosks For Beer And Food’.
Dedicated stewards will be checking the respective lines to make sure that no under-18’s join the queues for alcohol sales.
Commenting on the extra measures now in place, Keepmoat Stadium Chief Executive, Andy Nicholl said:
“The purchase of alcohol within the Stadium by young people under the age of 18 has been an extremely serious issue, one we have worked hard to tackle together with the police.
“The decision to suspend the sale of alcohol for the recent friendly matches was the right one.
“We are confident that these new measures and the extra vigilance of our staff, that will be in place for the Manchester United match, will successfully tackle this issue.”
