Visitors to Keepmoat Stadium this weekend (Saturday 12th January) will see that a trial to reintroduce the sales of alcohol will take place in the East Stand.
Gavin Baldwin. Chief Executive of the Stadium Management Company (SMC) said that this trial at the Doncaster Rovers’ home game against Carlisle was a step in the right direction and had been agreed by working in close partnership with Doncaster Police and Trading Standards.
“We have been working with both the Police and Trading Standards to introduce measures that will help ensure no under age person is sold alcohol at matches. The new measures include dedicated staff to control access to alcohol queues, sectioned areas for alcohol sales and queue pickers to ensure compliance.
“We have agreed to run a trial selling alcohol from the East Stand public concourse this weekend. We hope that this is a step in the right direction and our phased approach will please visitors to the stadium who will be aware how seriously we have taken this issue.
“The series of measures are both robust and tough, and by having these in place we are confident that we can re-introduce public alcohol sales at games. It is important that these measures are totally effective and as such we will evaluate their success after the weekend’s trial and in conjunction with the Police and Trading Standards will be looking at ways to reintroduce alcohol sales to all areas of the stadium.”
Dave Morris, Chief Executive of Doncaster Rovers said: “Doncaster Rovers are pleased to see the progress with the alcohol sales at the Keepmoat and look forward to the trial run paving the way forward for sales throughout the stadium.”
