Former Castleford and Dons Rugby League player, Andy Clarke has been installed as Manager of the Lakeside Soccer, Athletics and Sports Complex which is part of the Keepmoat Stadium.
Key component of the community focused Keepmoat Stadium, which was created with £32million backing from Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, the community facilities promise to become the hub of team-sports in the borough.
Commenting on his appointment Andy Clarke said:
“The facilities we have here from the 3G all-weather pitches to the running track are of the highest calibre and arguably the best in Yorkshire.
“We’ve now established a series of 6-a-side football leagues, and will shortly add an Under-16 and over-35’s division to these. There’s still time to take part and enter though, as we’re actively seeking teams to join the many that have signed-up so far.
“In the near future we’ll also be able to unveil a wide range of other activities that will hopefully include community running clubs, touch rugby 7’s, FA coaching courses and soccer schools. We’re also in discussions with a number of professional teams who are keen to use all the facilities for a pre-season training camp.
“With everything we can offer I’m more than confident we’ll soon be the main centre for community sports in the borough.”
Football teams of all abilities and ages are currently being sought to join the 6-a-side leagues. For further details contact the Lakeside Soccer Centre on 01302 762 562.
