The Stadium Management Company (SMC) is working closely with Doncaster Police to implement an action plan which will see a complete crackdown on anyone underage who attempts to purchase alcohol at matches.
As these measures are being put in place by the SMC, a decision has been taken to extend the voluntary suspension of alcohol sales in public areas. This will have an effect at the Doncaster Rovers fixtures against Oldham Athletic (23/10) and Leyton Orient (28/10). This temporary measure will also be in effect at the Doncaster Rovers Belles match against Birmingham City (21/10).
Commenting on the steps being taken in conjunction with Doncaster Police, Gavin Baldwin, Interim Chief Executive of the Stadium Management Company said:
“It is crucial that at the stadium, we have in place measures that are not only effective in stamping out this problem but make clear our complete intolerance of underage drinking and those who wish to break the law.
“As a result we have taken the decision to extend our policy of temporarily suspending alcohol sales in all public areas at the next two Rovers matches and at the Belles game against Birmingham. This will allow us to continue working together with the Police to ensure that the steps we are taking get rid of this problem once and for all.”
PC Mark Satterley of the Doncaster Police Licensing Team said:
"We are working closely to support the Keepmoat Stadium management team to implement new working practices to tackle underage drinking at the venue.
“I would encourage all supporters wishing to drink at alternate premises during the suspension of alcohol from the ground, to do so responsibly. Appropriate action will be taken for anyone who is found to be committing an offence."
