The Stadium Management Company (SMC) is working closely with Doncaster
Police to implement new measures that will help ensure no underage person
is sold alcohol at matches.
These measures have been introduced and to ensure their effectiveness
alcohol sales in public areas will be phased in during the forthcoming
weeks. Public sales will resume in the Belle Vue Supporters Bar at the
Doncaster Rovers FC game against Tranmere Rovers FC (17/11/07). Alcohol
sales within private hospitality areas will continue as normal.
The new measures include dedicated staff to control access to alcohol
queues, sectioned areas for alcohol sales and queue pickers to ensure
compliance.
Commenting on the steps being taken in conjunction with Doncaster Police,
Gavin Baldwin, Interim Chief Executive of the Stadium Management Company
said:
“It is vital that we have in place measures that make clear our commitment
to ensuring that underage people are not sold alcohol on our premises.”
“We have identified a series of measures that are both robust and tough,
and by having these in place we are confident that we can re-introduce
public alcohol sales at games. It is important that these measures are
totally effective and as such we have taken the decision to phase in the
reintroduction of sales beginning with the reopening of the Belle Vue
Supporters Bar this weekend.”
PC Kevin Murphy of the Doncaster Police Licensing Team said:
"We are working to support the Keepmoat Stadium management team to
implement new working practices to tackle underage drinking at the venue.
This process will continue as alcohol sales are reintroduced."
