A Doncaster bride-to-be is celebrating after shedding almost six stones in five months so she can fit into her dream wedding dress.
Corinne Johnson, 30, is looking forward to her big day in May when she will marry fiancé Kevin Heywood in Riviera Maya, Mexico, in the size 14 dress she vowed to wear, despite being a size 22 at the time.
She made the promise to herself in October 2007 and has worked tirelessly at Keepmoat Stadium’s Lakeside Health and Fitness Club in a bid to prove wrong the people who said she should think twice before going for the slim-fit strapless number.

Corinne, a finance assistant at Keepmoat Stadium, said: “When I ordered my dress I was a size 22 and against all advice I ordered the dress in a size 14 because I was that convinced I would lose weight. Since then I've lost almost six stones through diet & exercising regularly at the Lakeside gym and I know I will fit into it when I go for my fitting in March.
“The instructors there have been great, helping me concentrate on my arms, shoulders and back – the bits that’ll be on show – and obviously loads of cardio to get the weight off.
“They have made all this hard work into something I enjoy doing and I’m going to maintain it even after the wedding!”
Corinne and Kevin, 33, a health and safety manager at Leeds-based Ernst Young, live in Auckley with Corinne’s 10-year-old daughter Olivia.
Jacqui Page, sales and marketing manager of the Stadium Management Company said: “What Corinne is achieving, and the way she is doing it, is absolutely amazing. We’re all really proud of her and can’t wait for her fitting so she can see the benefit of all her efforts when she slips into her dress.”
Corinne is also attending the wedding fayre at Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday 24 February to look for the finishing touches for her big day.
She added: “I’m a wedding fayre connoisseur so I wont be missing this one! Luckily with getting married abroad there's not a huge amount to organise but I'm after the finishing touches and my daughter likes to sample all the cakes/chocolate fountains!”
The wedding fayre, featuring bridal wear, ladies wear and fashion shows, will take place between 11-3.30pm on Sunday 24 February in the East Stand of Keepmoat Stadium.
For more information on the wedding fayre call 01302 762590 or to become a member of the stadium’s Lakeside Health and Fitness Club call 01302 762565.
